For Your Listening Pleasure:
THE WOODEN GLASS RECORDED LIVE featuring BILLY WOOTEN
PRESSED IN THE U.S.A.
RECORD LABEL : Original Interim Label
CATALOGUE NUMBER : NR 2546
YEAR OF RELEASE : 1972
Please check out the actual record you are bidding on by clicking the Youtube link. This is an original press of this monster rarity. There hasn't been a real one on in over a year. There hasn't been a real good one on in over two years. Here's your chance!!! I have bought and sold records for over 20 years and this is the second one of these I have ever turned up and I consider myself lucky. Most collectors will never physically see a copy let alone own one. This record does not surface and certainly not in this outstanding condition. This was my personal collection copy and has been stored properly since ownership. The cover is nice and clean with no ring wear, punch holes, dings, etc... It is in Excellent (8 out of 10) condition. There is a clean split at the bottom opening that you can see in the picture. This is the only blemish on the cover. The white is still vibrant as well is the dark cover slick. There aren't even any finger prints. The record is EX as well. This one plays exceptionally well. This was a private press of a live recording after all but you would think that it was produced by Rudy Van Gelder. The production is nothing short of impressive. Please see video for playback results and to inspect the cover all over. I have listened to this album three times and I believe its one of the best live recordings I've heard from this era. I can see how fans of Jazz, Funk, Soul and Hip Hop go nuts for it. The band just gets tighter as they go on. I have included A/V samples of the whole first side. This is a loud recording and very enjoyable in this condition. We start out with 'Monkey Hips and Rice' which is the showcase for Billy. I put the most time on this one because this is the one collectors want. 'We've Only Just Begun is a beautiful ballad and an interestingly funky take on the original. Then we get to 'Joy Ride' which I feel is where the album takes off. The guitar work is stellar and the drum beats are out of this world. Billy comes in on the vibes and puts it all to rest. The band is so good at what they do that you will find yourself just paying attention to the guitarist flamboyant style. Then the drummer comes in and reminds me of those samples in'80s Hip Hop. The album only gets better. Remember this is an original pressing from 1972. The deadwax has Side One, NR-25461 etched into it as well as BILLY WOOTEN and finally LB across the dial. The B-Side is the same except for NR-25462 and obviously Side Two etched as well. This is not a counterfeit, import or re-issue. This is the Real Deal and from the looks of it, this maybe your last chance to own the monster private pressing!!!
[This is the fantastic sound of Wooden Glass, featuring Billy Wooten, and let me tell you that the live, cool, rhythmic, pulsating drive of this album will get next to your mind.
Recorded live at the 19th Hole Night Club in Indianapolis these four talented musicians got it on. Wm. Roach (guitar), Emanuel Riggins (organ), Harold Cardwell (drums). Ladies and gentlemen this is the super Wooden Glass, and of course featuring my main man Mr. Billy Wooten and the vibes.
The city of Indianapolis claims Wooden Glass and Billy Wooten-------we love 'em here and we want the country and the world to know of their amazing talents.
Billy Wooten, a native of Newark, N. J. is a monster with himself---he can write, produce, Billy can even sing. Wm. Roach is from Indy, Emanuel of Cleveland, Ohio and Harold of Buffalo, N.Y. Oh! they are so good with that winsome sound. This album consists of six tunes and I guarantee you that the fellows will pour it on you by the pail full. Listen to them now, so you can say, "I heard them first." We give you now---Wooden Glass featuring Billy Wooten.

GRADING SYSTEM
Mint = Only reserved for Sealed records or store stock new 45s. 10/10 Top Copies
Near Mint = The record may have been played once or twice on good equipment. Near Mint vinyl should sound and look New when dust is cleaned off and the records played with a properly aligned cartridge and good needle. A Near Mint cover should be one that either looks new or still has the shrink wrap on it. Near Mint is usually reserved for record collectors that don't mind spending premium in order to get the best quality copy of a recording. 9 out of 10
Excellent = 8 out of 10 A record should have maybe one blemish such as fingernail or scuff on the surface that does not affect play. It should be veiwed as Near Mint to most collectors, but for the super picky collector such as myself that check them with a 100 watt light bulb before it ever gets played, it is veiwed as 8/10.
Very Good ++ = 7 Out of 10. A VG++ record may have a few blemishes on each side and will still play with High Fidelity.
Very Good + = VG+ is a grade that I use for most lps that have been played a handful of times with care. It may have one or two scratches (should not be feelable with finger) that DO NOT affect play or some sleeve scuffs from being pulled and played. When put on your record platter a VG+ record should sound great. There should not be overwhelming background noise (when properly cleaned). Pops and Skips from deep scratches are unacceptable. You should be able to listen to a VG+ record time and time again and not have to worry about damaging it because its not in top collectable shape anyway. 6 out of 10
Very Good = A vg record has been played numerous times, such as party records that were stacked on top of each other instead of being returned to the inner sleeve. These should play with background noise but will not hurt your needle. 45s are a different story. These will usually play well even though there are numerous scratches. Don't be afraid of surface scratches, your stylus takes a worse beating every time it crosses the matrix numbers in the trail off. 5 out of 10
Remember to achieve this sound quality you need to have your equipment properly set up. Never put too much weight on your stylus, 1.5 grams is sufficient for most turntables.
