THIN LIZZY "Shades Of A Blue Orphanage" UK 1st PRESS
1972 DECCA GREEN LABELS, R. STACE GF, NM AUDIO
THIN LIZZYShades Of A Blue Orphanage
ORIGINAL UK DECCA (TXS 108) FIRST PRESSING (March 1972) OF THIN LIZZY'S SECOND LP "Shades Of A Blue Orphanage" RECORDED WHILE THEY WERE STILL A THREE-PIECE
The title is derived from the names of bands the members were in previously: Shades of Blue (Bell) and Orphanage (Lynott, Downey)
AND THIS COPY IS IN SUPERB CONDITION (a handful of plays only) DELIVERING SENSATIONAL AUDIO THROUGHOUT - AS WOULD EXPECT FROM DECCA WHO CUT SOME OF THE FINEST SOUNDING RECORDS OF THE PERIOD - DEEP, HEAVY, WARM AND DETAILED WITH PRACTICALLY NOTHING TO FAULT - SUPERB COPY
VERY HARD TO FIND AS THE ORIGINAL GREEN LABEL PRESSING AS THE ALBUM DIDN'T CHART IN THE UK AND THERE AREN'T TOO MANY OF THESE AROUND
PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE FIRST ISSUE (SMALL) GREEN DECCA ffss LABELS
FIRST ISSUE MATRIX: ZAL - 11209.P - 2 / ZAL - 11210.P - 3
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/BU and 1/M
THE LP IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATT GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made in England by Robert Stace"
AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL BLUE STEREO DECCA COMPANY INNER SLEEVE
Track Listing:
Side 1: The Rise And Dear Demise Of The Funky Nomadic Tribes / Buffalo Gal / I Don't Want To Forget How To Live / Sarah / Brought Down
Side 2: Baby Face / Chatting Today / Call The Police / Shades Of A Blue Orphanage
LABELS: The labels are clean and bright with no unwanted marks/writing and only a handful of light spindle traces (made more prominent due to the nature of these labels) - this copy has clearly seen only light play - NM/EX++
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - NEAR MINT
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio on these first presses with a crystal clear, deep, rich and warm sound and a superb loud cut - very, very impressive indeed and on playback at a loud volume there are no no major audio issues of note - no scratches, no skips or jumps and barely any surface noise - this pressing is exceptionally clean with practically silent run-ins and track divisions and with the quieter sections (like the beautiful "Sarah") playing as silently as you could wish for. The playback is practically flawless from the opening extended drum intro right throughout to the superb final (title) track and the whole LP plays to an extremely high standard (with just a couple of light background static 'ticks' only - very minor) and has stunning warmth, depth and clarity with no groove-wear or distortion. Critically graded NEAR MINT for audio this is a fabulous copy of an outstanding LP and one very, very highly recommended indeed
SLEEVE: The original gatefold sleeve being soft and untreated is normally found heavily rubbed but this one is in superb condition - clean and bright with no marks and little storage wear to the edges or spine - where all text is clear and bold - just a little rubbing to the back surface - overall, a fine example - EXCELLENT (+)
