BRAWLERS
Brawlers presents probably the best-known of Tom Waits' personalities, filled as it is with vocal cord damage, found percussion, old-timey arrangements, and cartoon-buzz lead guitar. It's also the disc that flirts most dangerously with cliché, filled as it is with his well-trod inventory of Americana underbelly images: trains, jailhouses, barrooms, etc. However, the secret of Waits' act is how well he deploys these should-be-tired cultural touchstones; at the very least, he sounds more comfortable in the role of a boxcar-hopper than he does reciting the ripped-from-the-headlines Middle East folk song "Road to Peace". Certainly it helps that he continues to buck the aging rocker career trend of increasing cleanliness, wrapping these songs in dirt-grit production that keeps the Big Bopper warble of "Lie to Me" or the garage 12-bar Ramones cover "The Return of Jackie and Judy" from sounding like a House of Blues exhibit.
BAWLERS
Bawlers, on the surface, is every bit as soothing as Brawlers is abrasive. But for all the gentle piano and brass embellishments, the mood is far from serene, inhabiting the bittersweet, sentimental borderline between a bender and hangover. Given that this sound goes back to Waits' earliest days, the timeframe is wider here than elsewhere in the set, yet it holds together with a late-night woozy consistency while veering from AM-radio jazz ("You Can Never Hold Back Spring") to folk ("Widow's Grove"), and intimate ("World Keeps Turning") to show-stoppingly anthemic ("Never Let Go", "Down There By the Train"). More than any other disc, Bawlers is proof that Waits can pull these kind of nightclub-act songs out of his derby hat at will, able to channel the archetypal piano-man character with minimal effort.
BASTARDS
The collection of 56 songs went far beyond a simple career retrospective. It dipped back as far as 1984 with the bulk of it's songs hailing from the mid-nineties onward. Over 2/3 of the material had never been heard when originally released in 2006 and had 30 newly recorded songs. Orphans also featured a number of songs finding a home on a Waits' album for the first time. They included Waits' unique interpretations of songs by such diverse talents as The Ramones, Daniel Johnston, Kurt Weill & Bertolt Brecht and Leadbelly. These outtakes, rarities and the previously unreleased material were separately grouped into themes and named, Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards. And now these titles will be released individually. Brawlers is a collection of raucous blues and full-throated juke joint stomps Bawlers is a collection of Celtic and country ballads, waltzes, lullabies, piano and classic lyrical Waits' songs Bastards is a collection of experimental music and strange tales.

If you are searching for a particular title and have been unable to find it, feel free to contact us and we will do our very best to source it for you. We have new deliveries coming in from the U.S. & U.K. almost daily. If you place a special order with us, we should be able to get it in the country within 5-10 days (depending on availability).
In the unlikely event that you receive a product that is either defective or faulty, please contact us immediately with a description of the problem. We offer a 30 Day Exchange for all defective/faulty products.
Most of the DVDs sold in our store are either REGION 1 or 2 format. This means that they are imported from the U.S. & U.K., and can only be played on DVD players that are either R1/R2 or Region Free. In general Australian DVD players are locked to Region 4, however more and more new DVD players sold these days are Multi Region compatible. We strongly recommend that you check your DVD player's Region code before purchasing as we are unable to refund purchases for incompatibility. Your DVD instructions manual should include the Region information for your DVD player. Alternatively if you email us your DVD player make & model, we will endeavour to find out for you.
Payment
Payment is required within 7 days of purchase. If for any reason you are unable to pay within 7 days, please contact us prior to bidding/buying. We are flexible with our payment terms for people who contact us first. We accept the following payment methods: PAYPAL, BANK DEPOSIT, MONEY ORDER & CASH ON PICKUP.
Orders can also be picked up from our office in Dandenong, VIC. If there is a particular order you would prefer to pick up, please call us before you BUY IT NOW to ensure the product is in stock.

All items are shipped through Australia Post. For domestic deliveries within Australia we offer Regular, eParcel & Express eParcel services. We strongly recommend you select the eParcel or Express eParcel service as they can be tracked online through the Australia Post tracking website.
International deliveries are sent through Australia Post Regular Airmail. This service does not include a tracking number. For security and peace of mind, we strongly recommend that our international customers register their orders. For a fee of $8.50, the package is insured and also trackable. We also offer EMS Express Courier for international deliveries.
We offer combined shipping on multiple orders. If you purchase several items from our store, please request a combined invoice prior to making payment.
