Description
TONY HATCH & the Satin Brass.
Sounds of the 70s. Pye LP 1970 PYE stereo (NSPL 18335) The following description is lifted from the excellent VINYLVULTURE site....
"Now we're talking! Small fortunes have been known to change hands for copies of 'Sounds Of The Seventies' (Pye, 1970). It is simply packed from beginning to end with luxurious grooves to die for. Loaded with top sessioners like Alan Hawkshaw, Herbie Flowers, Chris Karan and Denis Lopez, the Satin Brass run through some great tunes of the day, plus some cracking Hatch originals. All magic stuff, but it's the latter material that really makes this one something special. His five self-penned numbers here are all top-drawer. 'Herbin' is full of slinky brass and bass, and would be worthy of a place on any comp album, were it not for the sheer presence of the albums' closing title track. It just blows everything else out of the water! And, it's one that we are all subliminally familiar with too; it having been lifted for those Levis ads with the twisty people at the all-night garage. It's a bloody killer track and you know it!"
....Phew, how can I bring myself to part with it? What's more the vinyl is genuinely near mint with not a mark on it, and the flipback sleeve rates excellent.
