Description
HERE are the incomparable BOSWELL SISTERS, singing the deeply tragic "TRAV'LIN' ALL ALONE," and (as if to compensate) a surprisingly cheery "ST. LOUIS BLUES."
I've said it before: there were all manner of "Sister Acts" in show business, AND THEN there were the Boswells. They carved a place for themselves in jazz history with their unique arrangements, vocal timbre and close collaboration with their musicians. They're exciting as hell! To recommend them further would be an impertinence!
This blue-label 1938 Vocalion re-issue of 1935 Brunswick sides, is in exquisite, glossy E+ condition. The white stickers, "FOR REVIEW PURPOSES - NOT FOR SALE" tell us that it's a crisp, early, advance pressing. About as squeaky-clean sounding as one of these could ever be. Master pressed, of course.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
