Description
Trini Lopez began his recording career in 1958 releasing a single on Volk records "The Right to Rock". He then moved to King Records in 1959 recording such tracks as "Rock On" and "Jeani Marie".The tracks on this EP were originally recorded on the small Hollywood record label DRA Records in 1962 as two singles : Rosita/Only in My Dreams (DRA 7008) and Sinner not a Saint/Where Can My Baby Be (DRA 315) ("Sinner not a Saint" was also released on United Modern Records UM-106 in 1963, with a different flip side:"If"). The following year Trini Lopez recorded an LP on Reprise records, "Trini Lopez at P.J.'s" which was a big selling album, and the beginning of a long and successful recording career for him. In the wake of the success of his recordings for Reprise, these earlier recordings were re issued by the record companies that had the rights to them in the hope of picking up sales based on the new found popularity of the singer. This EP was released in the UK in 1964 and also in some European countries, however it was not a big seller, the songs that Trini Lopez was issuing on Reprise at this time were pop interpretations of folk songs and different in style to these earlier tracks. The stand out track is "Sinner not a Saint", which is a full on rocker, written by Shel Talmy and arranged by R & B legend Maxwell Davis. The vinyl on both sides is clean and shiny with no scratches skips or jumps, both sides play LOUD and clear, is a strong mono UK pressing, and both labels are clean, no writing or stickers.(VG+). The cover still has a glossy sheen on the front, no writing or stickers, there is some faint ring wear noticeable if held at an angle to the light. The back has a low sheen finish and there are some small, light stains, but over all is still clean and again no writing or stickers all the sides are intact, no splits or tears(VG) For track listings see photos 5 & 6
