Description

Just recently I bought a massive collection of 60's and 70's LPs...some are in surprisingly immaculate condition, and some are not, but the original owner (a well-respected Australian vinyl hoarder) was a fastidious collector of the styles he loved - 60's punk/garage, British invasion well-knowns [Beatles/Hollies/Dave Clark 5/Gerry & The Pacemakers/Zombies/Troggs/etc..], 70's West Coast sounds, pop-psych and he'd obviously forraged far and wide since there's a flurry of unique South American, New Zealand,Taiwanese, South African, Japanese releases amongst them all.

Here then, is one of the LPs from his collection:

ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING?:    Yes, I believe so...has the 'middle-sized' 'mono' word at top right on front cover...flipback cover: glossy laminated front; matt back...yellow and black labels...comes with original plastic-paper-lined Emitex inner sleeve...

Matrix numbers: XEX 481-3N ...and... XEX 482-3N  (matrix numbers as per all early pressings)

Stamper Codes:   4  ART  ...and...  7  AAO  (NOT the first stampers, however, but still part of the first run of pressings)

Label specifics: 

The "All rights of the manufacturer" message around the edge of the label starts with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd."

The label DOES have "Recording first published 1964", and also the "Sold in U.K..." statements.

 

Mono/Stereo Differences:

"A Hard Day's Night" ....The stereo version is a few seconds longer than the mono version.

"I Should Have Known Better" ....The stereo version has a brief gap in the harmonica intro, whereas the mono version is complete.

The stereo version has four repeats of the closing "You love me too" refrain, the mono has only three.

"If I Fell" ....The stereo version has John's opening solo vocal double-tracked, it is not double-tracked on the mono version.

"Tell Me Why" ....The stereo version has John's solo vocal double-tracked, it is not double-tracked on the mono version.

CONDITION:

COVER: ( VG++ )...FRONT: has small creases on the bottom seam and spine...has scuffing in the bottom right corner, and to a lesser extent, in the bottom left corner...also some light tape stains, mostly visible in the top left corner, but all the same it's very light...BACK: has grubbiness at opening edge, a name written at top left, and a tear on the flap at bottom right...also has very light tape stain too...

RECORD: ( VG[+] )...has many light scuffs/marks, but nothing heavy...plays beautifully!...has a big LOUD cut and the sound leaps out of the speakers...it's a fantastic listen!!...despite grading it's a very nice copy...

LABELS: (Side One: VG++ / Side Two: EX- )...Side One label has tear to the right of the '?' sign logo, but it's been blacked out so it ends up being less significant than if not...

PACKING:
Don’t worry - I'll pack anything you buy VERY CAREFULLY to make sure it arrives in EXACTLY the condition it left here. More specifically, in the way I'd like to receive parcels myself. VINYL: All LPs come packaged carefully in solid corrugated card packaging designed specifically for LPs, plus the LPs are housed in clear plastic sleeves. The record itself is ALWAYS removed from cover ( except for SEALED LPs) for shipping to prevent seam splitting, and placed alongside the LP cover (inside its own inner sleeve, OR in an extra sleeve to keep in secure) within the clear plastic sleeve, which is then sealed. Likewise 7" singles/EPs are packaged the same way too - well protected. POSTERS: All posters are rolled within outer protective paper that extends well beyond the actual length of the poster to avoid any crushing of the ends, and then packed in a very sturdy solid-card mailing tube - packed carefully to allow no room for any movement of the item inside.
WE MAIL OUT AT LEAST THREE TIMES A WEEK.
