Description

In this auction is 1 original Beatles Picture Sleeve with 1 original Beatles Capitol orange-yellow swirl label 45 RPM record.

Here are the details:

  • I’LL CRY INSTEAD b/w “I’M HAPPY JUST TO DANCE WITH YOU” by The Beatles

  • This is a 7-INCH RECORD and PICTURE SLEEVE issued by CAPITOL RECORDS.

  • This is Capitol Records 5234.

  • This record and picture sleeve were issued July 20, 1964.

  • The RECORD in THIS AUCTION is THE FIRST PRESSING. We know this because on the labels the publisher is co-credited to Unart Music and Maclen Music.

  • The vinyl has an asterisk (*) in the trail-off. This is the factory-marking in the trail-off which indicates that this vinyl is a West Coast pressing, pressed at Capitol Records’ Los Angeles plant.

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE has a THUMB-TAB CUT AT THE TOP OPENING that indicates that this sleeve is a WEST COAST-PRODUCED SLEEVE.

  • The VINYL has a low grade of GOOD (G) CONDITION. It has too many light surface hairlines/scuffs to count. The labels have circular edge wear and there is some light marker writing on the A-Side label.

  • The PICTURE SLEEVE would be in NICE VG CONDITION, but there is a tiny 1/8-inch tear at the top opening that may lower the grade some. The VG grade is based on: moderate overall wear including: some light disc impression (NOT ring wear), small and light folds or creases at one of the top corners and both of the bottom corners, the name “Lisa” written in cursive lightly above Ringo’s head on the A-Side of the sleeve, the name “Eve Little” lightly written in ballpoint above George’s head on the B-Side of the sleeve, some slight vertical glue stains on the A-Side of the sleeve, and a couple of very light smudges in the background area of the photos on both sides of the sleeve. There are NO SEAM SPLITS and NO RING WEAR on this picture sleeve. Even with the light to moderate wear and blemishes that I’ve noted, please check out the images and you’ll see how this sleeve STILL really looks quite presentable and still has REALLY NICE COLOR.

  • Due to the fact that the vinyl has a low grade, this auction is really for a nice picture sleeve looking for better vinyl to go with it.

This BEATLES PICTURE SLEEVE has become a VERY DESIRABLE BEATLES PICTURE SLEEVE which has made it a VERY TOUGH SLEEVE TO FIND in NICE/DECENT CONDITION.

PLUS, THE WEST COAST THUMB TAB-CUT VERSION OF THIS SLEEVE IS TOUGHER TO FIND THAN THE STRAIGHT-CUT EAST COAST VERSION.

Thanks to the Price Guide for the Beatles American Records, 6th Ed. by Perry Cox and Frank Daniels for some information about this picture sleeve and record.
