This LP is Capitol Records MAL - 2835.

This is the MONO (monaural) PRESSING of this Beatles’ LP title.

The labels don’t have “subsidiary” in the perimeter print on the label, and all of the songs are credited to BMI.

Mono pressings were issued November 27, 1967.

“Magical Mystery Tour” was the LAST U.S. Beatles LP title to be issued in MONO. The subsequent Beatles LPs released in the U.S., “Abbey Road”, “The Beatles” (aka: “The White Album”, “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude” (aka: “The Beatles Again”), were ALL issued ONLY in STEREO in the U.S.

This Monaural issue of “Magical Mystery Tour” is an East Coast Pressing produced at Capitol’s Scranton Pressing Plant. We know this because:
1. The vinyl has the “?” in the trail-off wax which is the symbol Capitol Records used to identify vinyl pressed at its Scranton Pressing Plant.
2. The inner slick has “No you’re not!” under “I Am The Walrus” in block letters. (West Coast issues have “No you’re not!” in handwritten print.)

Therefore, this vinyl and cover are correctly matched.

GATEFOLD COVER is in VG CONDITION OVERALL. There is light to moderate overall wear (as you can see in the images). The front and rear cover images look quite nice with minimal or light wear. Most of the wear is on the edges and corners where there is light to moderate wear depending on the corner. There is a “bald” corner at the moderate wear on the corners at the base of the spine and some wear on the corner at the top of the spine and on one of the corners at the top of the opening that houses the vinyl. There is a little bit of flaking on the top seam that houses the vinyl, but there are NO SEAM SPLITS.
Inside the gatefold cover there is some light aging/foxing of the white areas inside the mostly near the edges. “No” is written very lightly next to “I Am The Walrus”, and it appears that “No” was also very lightly written next to “Magical Mystery Tour” and “All You Need Is Love” but that has practically disappeared now over time as you can see in the images.

The 24-PAGE BOOKLET inside the gatefold cover is still attached and all pages are present. The first page (1 backed with 2) and the last page (23 backed with 24) are still attached to the inside of the gatefold cover glued at the spine as it was produced. The center section of the booklet (pages 3-22) is still attached and held together by 2 staples along the spine, and it is still attached to the beginning and ending pages of the booklet. The first and last pages have small tears at the staples (It is common to see this with the booklet.)

The VINYL is in NICE VG CONDITION with a number of very light surface hairlines/scuffs. (None of them are “feelable”.) The vinyl still has lots of gloss!
It seems like MONO pressings of “Magical Mystery Tour” are becoming tougher to find these days than MONO copies of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”.
This is a NICE VG COPY OF THIS UNCOMMON MONAURAL PRESSING of the BEATLES’ “MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR” LP to add to your vinyl collection.
