On January 20, 1964 concurrently with the release of The Beatles “Meet The Beatles!” album, Capitol Records released a 7” Extended Play version for jukeboxes as the first Beatles record of the “Capitol 33 Compact” series. Up for auction is the 1st pressing copy of this issue with the -A1 / -A1 matrix numbers. The vinyl comes with the original hard cardboard cover which replicates the design of the LP cover with the photo by Robert Freeman on the front and has a blank white back side. The cover still remains in the original loose-fitting polybag. This jukebox edition comes with 3 original miniature paper album covers measuring 1 ¼” x 1 ¼” and 6 jukebox plastic stripes featuring 4 title strips, a header strip including the Capitol “ST-2047” catalog number and the Seeburg Part No. “605” as well as a footer strip containing “Star Title Strip Co., Inc.” and “Printed in U.S.A.” credits. All of the 1st pressing copies of this issue were pressed at the Capitol Records, Scranton, PA plant with the full matrix numbers being as follows: Side 1 – SXA-1-2047-A1 IAM in a Triangle &; Side 2 – SXA-2-2047-A1 IAM in a Triangle &. The ampersand “&” symbol etched in the trail-off vinyl on both sides indicates that the stamper was created from a Stereo-cut lacquer at the Scranton, PA pressing plant.

The cardboard picture sleeve is very clean and is graded as Near Mint. It doesn’t have any splits, scuffs, ring wear, wear, soiling, writing or residue. The original loose-fitting baggy which has some very light age shelf wear has done a fantastic job of preserving the picture sleeve in its initial state. We grade the vinyl as Excellent Minus for Side 1 and Very Good Plus for Side 2. The vinyl retains its beautiful factory gloss only having some very light non-feelable surface hairlines as well as scuffs from the original sleeve that don’t affect the playback at all with the majority of them being located on the Side 2 vinyl with its trail-off area having some light circular scuffing as seen on the photos. The labels are in great Excellent Minus condition, very clean, and only have a couple of very light age scuffs but no wear or spindle marks. The vinyl sounds amazing with a punchy and dynamic Stereo sound. The original miniature album covers and jukebox title strips are in great vintage condition.
