Description

A rare first pressing of "Please Please Me" by The Beatles on 7" Parlophone 45-R 4983.  This disc was manufactured without the "Made in Gt. Britain" text and includes the PT Tax Code lettering stamped on the run out and it's also clearly embossed in the centre of the record too, indicating this is a pressing most likely made before mid January 1963. Copies produced after this time were speedily rectified to include the missing "Made in Gt. Britain" text before further distribution.  As can be seen by the gallery photos, the centre labels of this disc are clean and bright with no visible previous owner names or other scribbles by pen.  A small segment of damage to the centre hole, probably caused by a previous owners "spindle haste" can be found on the "Ask Me Why" side.
The disc is certainly not "mint condition" but it's basically a pretty good copy with all the usual defects that can be expected in a record of this age that has been played and enjoyed for well over fifty years. Side's 1 and 2 play loud and bright, although I did observe a significant click during a quiet segment of "Ask Me Why" caused by a deep seated scratch on the playing surface, but there were definitely no nasty "skips or jumps" found when I recently spun this record up on two of my players.
