Very rare version of the album Please Please Me by The Beatles with the black and gold Parlophone labels! This is the 2nd version with 'Northern Songs' credits, thought to be even rarer than the 1st 'Dick James' version.

This mono copy also has the original cover with the early Angus McBean credit in the correct position.

The sound of this record is really rather good considering the marks on the vinyl. I put this down to the good quality, heavyweight vinyl that was used for these pressings.

This record has been play graded on a Project Debut Carbon Esprit SB turntable with an Ortofon 2m Blue cartridge.

Side 1: G Many surface marks and scratches but nothing too deep. Clicks and pops every so often and surface noise throughout but only really noticeable on quieter parts. No skips or jumps.

Side 2: G+ Surface marks and scratches but fewer than side 1. Occasional clicks and pops and surface noise throughout but only really noticeable on quieter parts. No skips or jumps.

Cover: F+ Original 1st issue. Has had sellotape around all four sides which has led to discolouration.  On front cover laminate still intact but creased. Small '4' written in red on bottom right corner.  Back cover slightly discoloured in centre and surface tear on top of a shop stamp. Spine good and readable. Minor ring wear. Please see photos.

Inner sleeve: VG+ Original. Minor discolouration. Small stain on either side. 

All records are packaged with the upmost care in a thick corrugated cruciform mailer with extra stiffeners. The record will be housed outside of its cover in a separate, brand new, inner sleeve and all will be contained in a sealed outer sleeve for maximum protection.

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
