Description

An original 4th press of PPM on the UK Parlophone label from summer 1963. Matrix 1N/1N - very 1st cut. Please note the labels do not exhibit the 'Sold In The Uk..' blurb which can only be found on the early copies whilst the LP continued it's phenomenal chart run in summer'63. 'Parlophone' is mentioned in the perimeter label text, and 'recording 1st pub' is still present. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover and the original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In absolute tip top condition for a '63 original  and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection there a couple of light marks per side, but nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback without reservation. Intros and inbetweens are really very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. YOU won't find a better playing copy that I can guarantee you! It basically aces it in all the right areas...Energy 10, Clarity 10, Definition 10,....background interference Nada! A great vibrant mono sound which is the definitive way to take in PPM. The audio is clean in the upbeat numbers, but also delivers those quiet acoustic moments without a whiff of background interference. As good a copy as I've ever auditioned... FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) These original '63 copies are difficult to find in top level condition. But this example has survived the years in very fine form indeed. And might grade higher but for some low-level foxing on the rear. A very nice shiny flat front with precious little creasing - just a few slight stress creases at the edge. The rear has avoided much of the usual ageing that so often afflicts these early copies. But please note there is low-level foxing apparent. Zoom into the photos and you should be able to spot it - that's what's stopping it grading higher [e.g. the area around the Emitex circle]. All flipbacks are very secure and intact - much nicer than you typically find. There's a touch of edge wear, but very little in reality and much less than you normally tend to find. The spine is very well preserved with text all legible - just a couple of slight stress creases. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A lovely looking true '63 copy. Nice!
Inner (Vg+) very little ageing. But sides have been split and have taped up.
