Description

An original 4th press of PPM in the UK on Parlophone. Matrix 1N/1N. Tax code - "MKT". This pressing would have been available in the shops SUMMER 1963 as BEATLEMANIA was in full swing. There's NO 'sold in the UK' statement, but THERE IS 'recording 1st pub' - this equates to 4th press/issue. The record comes housed in an original Ernest J Day cover. Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has seen relatively light use. These early copies were built to last and this copy plays exceedingly well. Expect a few light marks per side, and one semi-feelable mark on side 2 which does just about sound. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with just one deviation. Playback is of a very high standard - one that totally belies its relative age. Just a warm clean delivery of some terrific audio - a total treat. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Anything detrimental...>>? Well, all I could detect were a few crackles in, perhaps, one isolated moment per side [e.g. toward the end of HONEY]. CLEAN - consistently. A couple of ticks in 'SECRET' caused by the mark mentioned above - very minor and brief. Even the lower-key tracks play really nice and clean. A totally impressive rendition from this early Beatles original.
Cover (Ex-) Superbly preserved - not many pass through the years and surface looking this smart. A clean and flat front cover with a couple of minor creases. The rear has almost entirely avoided the ageing process. The flipbacks are all secure and totally intact. Edge wear is very light and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. There are no splits. Record shop stamp at the opening. Originally purchased "Queen St. St Helier, Jersey".
