PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...
THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'/ASK ME WHY'
This rare & final pressing of the original single mix (different to the album version) dates from mid-1964 on the black & silver Parlophone label: R 4983
Both sides include the 'Sold in UK..' text and have upper case 'The Parlophone Co...' rims.
The 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the 'Please, Please Me ' label
'KMPT' in stamped in one run-out with 'MPT' in the other.
Matrices: 7XCE 17217-1N & 7XCE 17218-1N
Stamper codes: 3/GDR & 3/GRO
Housed in its original green & white Parlophone company sleeve.
CONDITION
Labels: 1. EXCELLENT + 2. VERY GOOD
The 'Please, Please Me' label is immaculate with just a handful of tiny spindle marks. The 'Ask Me Why' side has multiple spindle marks , as well as '2/6' written in pencil on it.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Both playing surface are clean & retain much of their original deep-gloss shine with no major surface marks. Closer inspection beneath halogen light reveal many wispy marks but again nothing or any significance.
Audio: EXCELLENT
Despite having been played many times, the power & presence of this 'delta mono' mix shines through on this disc. Both sides play cleanly & clearly with no crackle or interference. 'Ask Me Why' is especially enjoyable with its drier, more direct sound. Both sides play without any trace of groove or playwear audible and will not disappoint.
Cover: EXCELLENT
Clean & fully intact with no writing, tears or seam splits.
