The Beatles, MEGA RARE, Please Please Me, genuine 3rd Press, 1963.
A chance to own the very short-lived and incredibly rare 3rd pressing on this great and legendary album - this is the version immediately after the black and gold pressing, which accidentally left the small 33 1/3rd playing speed instruction on the labels. This was quickly removed.
It's also in the earliest possible and original sleeve, with the Angus McBean credit far to the right-hand side.
There aren't many of these around.
This is from my own collection which I am now downsizing after many years. I've had this one for about ten years, safely stored away in an acid free sleeve and box.
The matrixes (and stampers) are XEX 421 -1N, 2/GT and XEX 422-1N, 12/RM The labels are good, though with a little spindle wear and the odd light mark (pictured). The vinyl, visually, is good though does have a few expected hairline marks to both sides. The sleeve is good for its age, still sturdy and strong with good flipbacks. There is a slight split to the bottom left opening side and what looks like a light pen mark to the rear, with a little discolouration around it. The inner sleeve is original - a little expected creasing but no splits or tears - very good for its age and considering how delicate these are.
Side 1 vinyl played through fine on my machine, a little expected crackle here and there (and the odd light pop) but no skips or jumps. I detected a skip and a stick on Do You Want To Know A Secret - but, to be honest, my machine isn't great so you might have more success on a better set-up and after a clean. I'm pretty sure I've played it previously and it was OK?!! But I won't absolutely guarantee a clean play - it mostly held up absolutely fine for a near 60 year old LP.
The album overall has been played but generally looked after.
So come grab a rare piece of history - a nice, good solid copy.
