Description

1st Issue of Revolver [Not 1st Press] on UK Parlophone from summer 1966 [around the time of release]. Matrix 2/2. Stampers 6-GPP/6-GOL. The label design is consistent with 1st issue at the time of release and whilst in the charts. Most importantly the track DR.Robert is abbreviated on the record label. At John Lennon's request ALL later copies show the track as DOCTOR. This is an important distinction which places this copy around the time of 1st release. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original cover printed by Garrod & Lofthouse. And it is a little beauty!
Vinyl (Ex+) Shiny like new and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks on either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are really nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect clarity and barely any interference at all. I can tell you finding an original Revolver that plays well all the way through is not an easy task. This LP includes Submarine, Your Bird, Eleanor etc.. and these are all low-key affairs and most copies reveal some degree of background. Not here! This copy really is tremendously well preserved - beyond pretty much any other copy of Revolver I can remember. You will be treated to an unrivalled level of performance. We detected a touch of light static at the intro to side 2 and that really is all that's vaguely worth mentioning. Superb!
Cover (Ex-) Has clearly been looked after too - just look at that front..beautifully white.  Both front and back are well well above average. There's very little of the creasing that seems to afflict this cover - or ageing. Please note there's a touch of edge wear down below the text 'Revolver' on the front - see pic - it has worn through, just. But in all other respects this cover is in unusually good condition. All flipbacks are sound, the spine is 100% intact, and overall the cover has great rigidity.
