Description

An original and genuine very 1st stereo press of RS on UK Parlophone. Matrix 2/2 - 1st cut. Stampers 1L/2GT. Note the labels mention the stereo format in large font <STEREO>..these are the 1st copies. And remember back in '65 stereo was still only just rising up from being the niche format. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo cover. We also have an original Emitex inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks per side - but nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of minor deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. I only detected some flutter in one inbetween on side1. Providing it's in the gap I feel that's liveable! Given the '65 vintage and the format is stereo I'd argue that preservation levels are pretty awesome. I'm getting some really nice clear audio off this copy - that's not an easy find in particularly from this period. A clean player in the upbeat numbers, but very adept in those lowkey numbers too. I'm getting some nice cymbal decay too - and the transients are usually the first thing to disappear! In fact, I'm not sure I've ever heard the percussion on RS like this [see "In My Life"]. Very very life like [impressively so]. Little to grumble at here. A few crackles in one isolated spot per side. Michelle plays really very clean - unusually so. This track is tricky to find playing clean in mono or stereo. Respect!. All I could find that was detrimental 1 isolated tick in NorwegianWood & Word, and a couple of slight ticks in 'CAR'. But they are minor and fleeting - and shouldn't really put anyone off who understands how difficult it is to find a smart playing original stereo 1st.
Cover (Vg) Not up to the standard of the vinyl but respectable. A relatively clean front, but expect some laminate lift and peel occurring at the opening edge. The rear has tanned a bit, but not too bad. Flipbacks are all intact and secure. Expect some wear along that bottom edge, but it has not warn through anywhere. The spine is ok with a little ageing and wear. The text is mostly still legible with wear starting on the final letters of Beatles. Overall given the rarity aspect - respectable.
Inner (Vg) Light ageing. Bag present. Left side split and has been taped up.
