WOW WHAT A FIND !!! This is a RARE ORIGINAL UNRELEASED DEMO ACETATE SINGLE, UK IMMEDIATE MUSIC / REGENT SOUND ACETATE PRESSING - MOD / PSYCH ACETATE by BILLY NICHOLLS from 1968 and IRMA THOMAS unreleased in the UK - NORTHERN SOUL track from 1965 on the B side, ORIGINAL UK UNRELEASED DEMO ACETATE PRESSING IN MAZING CONDITION !!!
This is a RARE AND GREAT - MOD / PSYCH / NORTHERN SOUL - UNRELEASED DEMO ACETATE single that I SUSPECT IS THE ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE !!! On one side you get an UNRELEASED - BILLY NICHOLLS - DEMO VERSION from 1968, This is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DEMO VERSION and acoustic, and is probably a DEMO for the track that would later on will appear on his unreleased album “WOULD YOU BELIEVE", it is more acoustic with no drums, ALL 4 MEMBERS of the SMALL FACES played on these recording with ANDREW LOOG OLDHAM (The Rolling Stones manager) producing it, so you can imagine the SMALL FACES probably sitting around and listening to this ACETATE !!! As this was an IMMEDIATE MUSIC PUBLISHING ACETATE (which I have bought the complete vinyl library from), only the track name is written, but you can also see the IMMEDIATE MUSIC PUBLISHING library number written on it IM 0326 (publishing companies only signed song writers and not the act !!!) As you can see an IMMEDIATE MUSIC label was put in 1968 on top of the REGENT SOUND STUDIOS label !!! The other side has an UNRELEASED in the UK track by IRMA THOMAS, what sounds like the DEMO VERSION of the track “THE HURTS ALL GONE” which was released in the US in 1965, it is well known that publishing companies used to re-use ACETATES on the blank side, hence you sometimes get 2 different artists, I can only assume that IMMEDIATE MUSIC had the publishing right in the UK for this track but for some reason it was never released, you can see that at some point a different label was put on top of the original EMIDISC label and then removed !!!
You can see and hear both sides on my Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ku4nDeAeL4
DON’T LET THIS PIECE OF PSYCH / IMMEDIATE MUSIC HISTORY GET AWAY as it is probably the ONLY TIME you will be able to buy this UNRELEASED ACETATE !!! I WILL HAVE SOME OTHER BILLY NICHOLLS / SMALL FACES / IMMEDIATE MUSIC ACETATES IN FUTURE WEEKS ALL FROM THE IMMEDIATE MUSIC RECORD LIBRARY !!!
ALL THE ACETATES I AM SELLING CAME FROM THE UK’s BIGGEST MUSIC PUBLISHING LIBRARY AND ARE ALL 100% GUARANTEED ORIGINALS !!!
The tracks are: BILLY NICHOLLS - LIFE IS SHORT (DEMO VERSION) / IRMA THOMAS - THE HURTS ALL GONE.
The ACETATE was pressed by IMMEDIATE RECORDS at REGENT SOUND STUDIOS.
The condition of the ACETATE is in EX+/ EX++ condition (Better then most ACETATES of this age, plays great with only mild crackle as ACETATES tend to have, side B had a label removed back in the day as can be seen in the photos) !!!
