Description
The Beatles' ninth album "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" released on the 1st of June 1967. This copy is a MONO 1st UK press on Parlophone PMc7027.
The front of the sleeve has 3 or 4 small (approximately 10mm) light creases to the lamination along the top and bottom. The rear shows traces of very light ringwear. The inner gatefold is in excellenct condition and still 'crackles' when you open it out. The spine is clean and readable.
The cardboard 'cut-out' insert is intact and in excellent condition. The psychedelic red and white "patents applied for" inner sleeve shows ringwear and some age discolouration.
The disc labels are crisp and clean with no writing and only the feintist of 'spider' marks. The "All rights of the manufacturer" message begins with "The Gramophone Co Ltd" and there is the "Sold in the UK" statement.
There are some light surface marks on both sides of the vinyl. But playing this album through, prior to listing, was a true delight. On side one there is a light 'pop' at the start of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" and some 'crackles' during the run-out. On side two there are some 'clicks' during the beginning of "Within You, Without You", during "When I'm Sixty Four" and at the start and end of "A Day In The Life". There is obviously NO sticking or jumping of the stylus. I believe that most dealers would rate the audio quality as excellent. The matrix numbers are XEX637-1 on side one with XEX638-1 on side two.
All in all, a highly collectable (and playable) 1st press copy of this timeless album.
