The Beatles were a British band, originally from Liverpool, active from 1960 to 1970. Marked an era in music, costume, fashion and pop art. Considered among the major phenomena of contemporary music, at a distance of several decades since their split official - and after the death of two of the four components - the Beatles are still, a huge following and many are their fan club in existence anywhere in the world . According to estimates by the Guinness Book of Records, is the music, the most successful ever with over 1 billion records sold, and the magazine Rolling Stone, the Beatles are the most important and influential band of the twentieth century.
Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth album by the Beatles discography. Put on the market Thursday, June 1st, 1967, is among the most famous in rock history and one of the first concept album of pop music. Sgt Pepper is on the top list of the 500 greatest albums of all time published by Rolling Stone. The album won a Grammy Award in 1968 for best album of the year. The idea of this record was born in the spring of 1967, when the Fab Four - after deciding to give up on tour - find themselves with time to carry out future projects. On holiday in the U.S. West Coast, Paul McCartney, Neil Aspinall, manager of the future Apple curious are the names of rock bands in Los Angeles, rather than articulated and content absolutely fantastic. Inspired by this incident, McCartney wrote a song about a group of classical musicians with a name as a hippie, just called "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", or "The Lonely Hearts Club Band of Sergeant Pepper." Back in London, the two other Beatles propose the idea to write songs as if they were sung by Sergeant Pepper, following the new fashion concept album made famous across the Atlantic from the Beach Boys Pet Sounds and Freak Out! by Frank Zappa. John Lennon and George Harrison did not initially welcome the idea, but the opposite is rather the reaction of Ringo Starr who offers to sing a song written by McCartney and Lennon, With a Little Help from My Friends, his only contribution to lead vocals 'album. Lennon insists that all his songs already written they belong on the same LP and faced with a similar resistance Aspinall McCartney and arrive at a compromise: the substance of the album will simply be the collection of complete songs up to that moment, but the Cover should indicate a single work, a work uniform. The tracks led to 129 days and nearly 700 hours of recording, made almost entirely in Studio 2 of EMI. Sound engineer, Geoff Emerick assisted by Richard Lush, recording machines, a pair of 4-track Studer J39, the first multi-track tape recorders by 1 inch, one of which is preserved as a historical piece in the museum Studer, Neumann microphones were valve. For the first time you associate the term "album" to a vinyl record, the double cover so that he would open a book and showed a photo of their 4 in the foreground. The cover of Sgt Pepper's, carried out by Jann Haworth and Peter Blake and Grammy Award winner for best album cover from 1968, plays a central role in the new "world view" proposed by the Beatles. The four artists bring together their symbol characters, including Albert Einstein, Marlon Brando, Karl Marx, Edgar Allan Poe, Sonny Liston, Lenny Bruce and Aleister Crowley. This famous cover was later parodied by other artists such as Frank Zappa in his We're Only in It for the Money, as well as companies operating in the audiovisual entertainment industry such as Warner Bros. and Geffen Records. Among the slated by Lennon, then discarded, even Jesus, Adolf Hitler and Gandhi. Even the back cover has a meaning. For the first time a group that in fact cover the texts of his songs. Also, the fact that the four were photographed from behind only Paul was one of the mysterious "evidence" Paul is dead theory (that is, that Paul had died during the recording of the album). In reality, a person shooting from behind was not Paul but a friend and collaborator of The Beatles, Mal Evans, as McCartney had recoto United States for personal reasons during the sessions and work tables did not allow the Beatles delays. The initial idea also was to include a number of gadgets along with the album. Mustache, patches of cloth as those found on the clothing of the Beatles on the cover. But the likely cost of such an initiative were too high, so he simply decided to print the items you want to include (mustache, grades sergeant, the logo of Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) on one page of the cover, which fans could then cropped.
