I've always loved this Canada only Beatles rarity because it's such a scam, yet a tribute to someone at Polydor's marketing skills. Although recorded in Hamburg in 1961, this was released in 1969. This record came out in the middle of the "Paul is dead" rumours, which explains the blown out candle on the cover. Why Polydor? Because they ,or their German parent co, owned these early tracks recorded with the Polydor artist Tony Sheridan. If you haven't seen it, watch the movie Backbeat, all will become clear. What I like is that someone thought this all through and repackaged these old Beatles' recordings with such a dramatic cover-brilliant, given they could not use the Beatles' actual images of course. This LP is rare at the best of times but very hard to find with a cover like this. For some reason they usually suffer from heavy ringwear.This cover,though,is somewhere in the NM-/VG++ range, still with intact shrink, no writing or marks or splits whatsoever. Just a hint of wear to come under the shrink at the top. The best I've found by a long sight. The record is also excellent; it has a few light harlines and minor scuffs, but is glossy and clean and merits a solid VG+. Please ask if you want more info.
