Description

An original 1st mono issue on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1/1/1/1. Please note you can find really early copies without 'EMI' exhibiting - but the copy here does exhibit the EMI text and would have been available for purchase at 1st issue. Slight update - One of the labels is a "NO EMI"... so it appears this press is right on the cusp of 1st press. The real clincher for a genuine 1st issue is that statement you can see across the top of each label ' Sold In The UK subject to...'. Worth insisting on the 1st issues as, apart from being genuine 1st release copies, they were pressed very solid. The vinyl comes housed in an original top-loading cover [1st issue]. It's also what some folk describe as a wider spine [than normal]. Note the cover is numbered "0134592" - that's seven digits. If your copy doesn't have the seven digits I'm afraid it isn't 1st issue. We also have both original black Apple inner sleeves [die-cut with exposed flips]. There's the four original high quality photos and the lyric poster. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. We'll ship with poly-lined inners.. I sure as hell ain't risking the black inners!
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection expect just a few very light marks per side - very innocuous sort of stuff. There is, however, one mark which does sound during Long Long. PLEASE NOTE - there's some slight edge wobble exhibiting ONLY on one side... side 2 [Disc 1]. It's measured at maximum amplitude of 1MM [not that bad in reality] ..Read on though as it is of little consequence to the audio>>>> Overall these badboys have been very well cared for! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with only minor deviation in the odd/occasional spot. Given that these are true mono 1st issues I've gotta say they really are very well preserved - and it shows in the audio. I'm lovin' it! A lovely bold and clean rendition - partly due to the mono heavy pressing and in part thanks to the high level preservation. They don't all sound this good.  You might detect a few crackles in perhaps one track per side. Now, think about that for a minute... that's a pretty darn good strike rate if you ask me. The edge wobble on side 2 might cause a few crackles in MARTHA - but even this is pretty minor in my opinion. There's also a mark in the final track on side 3 [LLL] - you'll get a good few clicks through this track. This is the ONLY subpar track. There are a lot of acoustic [fussy] numbers on a WA. You want Blackbird / I WILL / REVOLUTiON / CRY BABY / GOODNIGHT playing properly clean? Then look no further.... These are '68 copies and they are kicking out some pretty impressive audio. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) In lovely condition... these original white albums always have a whiff of magic about them!... There's some light ageing - but no where near what you find on the majority of copies [still impressive]. The only thing I can pick out that is detrimental is just a bit of staining on the rear at the extreme top edge [no big deal]. The interior is very impressive - spot on. The spine is well above average with all text legible and just a bit of laminate peel [unavoidable]. Edge wear is relatively minor and overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine original example.
Inners (Ex)Wow, wow! How often do you find the original inners looking like this. I did have to do a double take to start with. Are they genuine? Yes...they are THE REAL DEAL. Very unusual to find like this. Minimal wear and no splits.
Lyric Poster (Vg+) Fully intact with a bit of foxing in places. Nice condition though.
Photos (Ex-) You can tell the original photos a mile off. They are so much better quality! All in excellent order.
