Description
The Beatles White Album 1st pressing from 1968 on the UK Apple Label. Matrix numbers -1/-1/-1/-1. Stampers 2-GGO/6-HA/3-GDG/6-GDB. Both records hold the 'Sold in the UK..' blurb that was discontinued in 1969. The records come housed in an original stereo top-loading cover [see third pic] numbered 0349657. The original black inners are both present, but there are NO photos or lyric sheet included here.
Cover (Ex) Remains in fantastic condition and has clearly been very carefully looked after down the years. Whilst not perfectly white it is certainly one of the closest examples I've seen to date. Nice and shiny on all sides and really good overall rigidity to it as well. The number on the front is nice and clear and the 'stereo' text on the rear is present - as it should be. Flipbacks are totally intact and there is very little wear evident at all - just take a look at the corner shot.
Vinyl (Ex-/Ex/Ex/Ex) Again, these have been very carefully looked after and appear to have only seen moderate playback. A close visual inspection shows that the discs have only one or two ultra light marks - the exception to this being Side 1 which does have two small marks. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and there's absolutely no hint of groove-wear. The actual audio quality is topnotch with every last nuance audible. The only noticeable interference I could detect was during ' Bungalow Bill' where one of the marks does cause four clicks. But other than that a fantastic rendition and certainly more revealing than any copy I've listened to to date.
Inner (Ex) Both inners seem to be entirely intact with no markings evident. One 1.c.m tear is all that I can detect.
