Description

An original 1st stereo press of YS on the UK Apple label pressed in late-1969 for release in the New Year. Matrix 1/1. Stampers 1H/1L - placing amongst the first few thousand copies to roll off the press. Please note both labels mention the "Sold In The U.K..." statement which is indicative of very 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo 1st issue cover with those two red-lines on the rear. Also included is the original black Apple inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light - something which you rarely can say about a YS 1st issue. Under close inspection there are a few light marks - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. In fact, this is without a doubt the best audition of YS I've heard - it is nothing short of stunning. Anyone familiar with this title will know, due to the type of audio present, finding a properly clean copy is something of a drama! But this copy absolutely aces it in all the right areas. I most certainly have never witnessed such a clean "all the way through" copy. It also has top-level transparency. I'd imagine what's driving this is those low-stamper numbers and the very high preservation level. Interference is very very minor and very infrequent. I'll detail everything I can pick up in absolute low-level detail. You will pick up a couple of low-level static crackles in a couple of isolated moments. There are a couple of ticks as Track 1 closes out [that's the best place for them!]. One pop in the silence right between T2&T3[S1] and another in the silence between T3&T4[S2]. A couple of isolated clicks during side 2 - nothing invasive or persistent..just minor and audible. But providing you can live with those, quite frankly, very minor issues..this LP is going to blow any self-respecting Beatles nut away! I can't recommend it highly enough...
Cover (Ex-) A beautiful looking cover and they most certainly do not surface looking quite this good very often. First thing is that front...It's pretty clean. Yes, there's some light ageing creeping in at the top edge and in the top-right sector, but by and large it's very clean looking - way better than what you usually find. Please note there are a couple of undulations down in the bottom left corner and a small knock at the middle of the bottom edge and a couple of minor creases toward the opening - nothing major at all. The rear is the real test for a 1st YS...they usually look awful. But this copy bucks the trend and is definitely a looker! Ageing is mostly absent - there are one or two tiny spots, but by and large a very nice looking rear. There's some slight damage to the laminate on the bottom flipback. But all flipbacks are intact and secure. Edge wear is very light for this title and the spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A super specimen and one you'd be hard pushed to better.
Inner (Vg+) One 1 inch side splits. A couple of tiny tears at the die-cut opening. Otherwise aok.
