This is likely the rarest pressing of The Doors' 'Morrison Hotel' you are ever likely to find.  Even white label promo copies come up once in a while....but this pressing is seldom seen. What we have here is a "hybrid" 1970 U.S./Canada pressing of The Doors' 'Morrison Hotel'.  Unlike in the U.S., all first pressings of 'Morrison Hotel' in Canada were issued with "gold" Elektra labels.  However, they were always deep-grooved, had labels that had a distinctly "metallic" gold sheen to them,  and had specific matrix numbers exclusive only to Canadian pressings.  The matrix numbers which corresponded to these slightly more common pressings are:

The "CP" etched at the end of the runout corresponds to the Columbia Records Pressing Plant in Pitman, NJ.;  A plant which began operations in 1961. This clearly means that this copy of 'Morrison Hotel' was pressed at this legendary factory in New Jersey.  Even the overall "look" of the record itself ; the particular weight of the vinyl, the outer edges, the font design and layout used for the printing of the matt tan labels....all correspond to a U.S and not a Canadian pressing.  Though both labels clearly state, 'Manufactured In Canada', I believe in this case the labels were printed in the U.S. prior to shipping to Canada to facilitate distribution. 
The non-textured gatefold jacket also has some unusual details.  Notice that the "PRINTED IN USA" (bottom right corner at the back) is not blacked out like on other vintage Canadian copies. However,  we notice that the Elektra Records U.S. address (top mid-level at back) is "whited out"  for this pressing.  Curiously, the letter "C" is placed in the middle of the white line.  Bear in mind, some of the very first White Label "Promo" records of 'Morrison Hotel' in the U.S. were not housed in the textured "crude-finish" gatefold covers we're all familiar with. I personally owned an early WLP copy and the one thing I remember is that the gatefold jacket was constructed with extra heavy boards and had a semi-glossy/matt finish to them...much like the copy offered in this listing. 
In over 40 years of collecting The Doors on record, this is only the 2nd copy of this Lp I've seen with these labels. Without a doubt, this is the closest you'll ever get to having a legitimate U.S. tan label copy of 'Morrison Hotel'.   

Gatefold Jacket:  Excellent+......a beautiful example and in fact would be Near Mint if not for an inoffensive 1" seam split midway along the top edge.  Rarely do these covers survive in this condition.
Record: Near Mint(-) .....as can be expected, the record has decent weight (probably between 125g ~ 140g)....both labels are perfect and show that this record has hardly been played. Extremely clean and glossy surfaces.....under strong light one can see some faint marks but most if not all were created during the pressing process and have no significant bearing on the sensational, bold, clear, and distortion-free audio.  Sure, another one of these pressings might show up in 5 ~ 10 years; but will it be found in this condition? Don't bet on it.
