Description
This is a beautiful copy of the very rare 1968 mono release, EKL 4024 MONO. Unipak cover is VG+ with only light bumping at two corners in a protective plastic jacket. Vinyl is almost like new with virtually no surface marks--plays beautifully and flawlessly thoughout with virtually no surface noise in a protective anti-static sleeve. Matrix is EKL 4024 A-1B on Side One and EKL 4024 B-1B on Side Two. A "T" is also stamped on both sides. Inside front cover has The Celebration of the Lizard poem and states, at the lower left, LYRICS TO A THEATRE COMPOSITON BY THE DOORS. A rare and beautiful copy of a timeless album--a great addition to any Doors collection.
On Jul-13-11 at 17:55:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Although I have sold probably 50 albums, mostly on Amazon, this is my first listing that has attracted serious collectors and audiophiles. In doing so, I have learned to look harder and listen harder on these sorts of items since they are so closely scrutinized by a much more sophisticated audience. In responding to questions, and looking and listening harder, I conclude that I probably overstated the condition of this album. To an untrained eye and ear, the record is as I originally described. To an avid Doors collector and/or audiophile, it probably falls short of my description. There is light surface wear but no skips or pops. There is light surface noise on some tracks and, on the loudest tracks, where Jim Morrison is basically screaming, there is some harshness to the sound, although I wouldn't call it distortion. Overall, I still think this is a very nice copy and fairly priced, but it might not pass muster with those looking for perfection. It is certainly a very good copy, both with respect to the packaging and the vinyl, but I was probably over enthusiastic in my original description. Please consider this in making your bid.
