Description

At the Coast Guard Academy in the mid-1960’s, a small group of cadets from the Classes of 1967, 1968, and 1969 got together on weekends to relax, by musically stepping outside the confines of the Chase Hall routine. The edginess of that era’s rock and roll, embodied in the British Invasion music of the Beatles and Rolling Stones, served as the inspiration for their performances at informal dances in the Cadet Rec Hall and other regional venues. After years apart, those same band members came together to continue entertaining the mid-1960’s Academy Classes with the same music at their five-year reunions.

The band’s name, The Gents, was taken directly from the rigorous Academy daily life, as upper class cadets frequently admonished underclass cadets to “LISTEN UP, GENTS!” Its members include Doug Miller, Paul Pluta, Steve Schember, and Jim Townley from ’67, Jay Clow from ’68, and Jimmy Smith from ’69, who hail today from all corners of the USA, but come together to continue entertaining lovers of rock of all ages. Autographed by the entire band on the front. This is an original copy. I will provide a replacement sleeve.Top is split about 1/3 across and bottom about 1/2. Small 2 inch side split. See all pictures L.p. side one is excellent and side has a few more visible scuffs but sound on both sides is excellent.
