The Smiths “HACIENDA” vintage vinyl live LP - Rare 80's pressing

 

Limited to just 500 copies, this rare album features The Smiths’ complete third-ever performance, recorded live at the legendary Hacienda club in Manchester, England on February 4, 1983. Performed in front of a small home crowd, this early show is notable for its renditions of songs and lyrics that pre-date their studio recordings, as well as for featuring "Handsome Devil," which would later become the B-side to "Hand in Glove," the band's debut single.

 

Obviously, Morrissey had nothing to do with the artwork here. The unimaginative cover is dark blue, featuring the trade mark "quality" logo inside a solid red circle, while the back cover displays a blow-up version of the logo without the red circle, and no additional information. However, the record comes with an interesting paper insert listing all of the records available at the time in the series. For the curious, The Smiths are listed four times; Sorrow's Son TMQ 71127, Hacienda TMQ 71129, Smithsessions TMQ 72112, Headmasters TMQ 72120
