The Smiths “Wilde About Morrissey” vintage live vinyl LP - Rare 80's pressing
This is a rare unofficial live album featuring The Smiths’ complete third-ever performance, recorded at the Haçienda in Manchester, England on February 4, 1983 (Side One), along with highlights from their show at Hammersmith Palais in London, England, recorded just over a year later on March 12, 1984 (Side two). The Haçienda performance is notable for its early renditions of songs and lyrics before the tracks were professionally recorded in the studio, and for featuring "Handsome Devil," which would later serve as the B-side to “Hand in Glove,” the band’s debut single.
The Hammersmith Palais performance includes a guest appearance by Sandie Shaw, who joined The Smiths on stage for “I Don’t Owe You Anything,” a track she had recorded with the band at Matrix Studios in London just one month earlier.
The front cover features an iconic image of Morrissey surrounded by his personal collection of Oscar Wilde books, taken at his childhood home at 384 Kings Road, Stretford, Manchester, by photographer Paul Slattery in May 1983. The back cover includes early photographs of The Smiths from two photo shoots, along with a candid image of the band seated on a couch.
This is an original first pressing, highly sought-after and difficult to find collectible for serious fans and completists of The Smiths and Morrissey. See full tracklist and other details below.
