Description

The Thundertones: Cloudburst

Original pressing on Aurora (Private Label) - 196?

Comments: I haven't been able to find out really anything about this group/album. It appears to be most definitely from the early to mid 60's, and the notes referr to the band being from the "West Coast", but do not specify a state. My best educated guess is that this is probably quite rare. It is all instrumental, and looks and sounds very home-made. The front and back of the cover are silk-screened, and it is pressed on heavy aqua colored green vinyl. The record is very clean, but there is fair amount of noise do to poor pressing/mastering - and the music it's self is pretty lo-fi. The silkscreened cover image has suprisingly very light wear - there are a couple of very small chips in the paint that do not really detract from the looks. The top and bottom seams are splitting and have a few small pieces of clear tape vertically across the seam. The cover is on heavy stock that is brown and grainy inside. This is definitely not a knock off Mummies style 90's surf group. It is the real deal. If anyone has any info on these guys, please drop me a line - I'd be curious to know more.

LISTEN, LISTEN

Condition:

Very Good ++ (plus, plus)
  • Vinyl should be very clean, but can have less luster than near mint.
  • Should still shine under a light, but one or two marks may show up when tilted.
  • Can have a few small marks that may show up easily, but which do not affect play at all. Most marks of this quality will disappear when the record is tilted, and will not be felt with the back of a fingernail.
  • This is the kind of record that will play "near mint", but which will have some signs of use (although not major ones).
  • May have slight surface noise when played.
