Despite the fact that this album of The Velvet Underground & Nico is a very early circa 1967 reissue finding it in a factory sealed condition is practically impossible. I think there're only a few of these factory sealed Mono copies left in the world and the majority of them are in private collections, whose owners are in no rush to part ways with them. Original gatefold Acy Lehman designed 3rd state Mono cover with the iconic Andy Warhol's yellow banana sticker and "Peel Slowly and See" text in the upper right hand corner on the front. The back cover has the airbrushed photograph of the actor Eric Emerson's torso. It was done after Emerson charged with drug offenses and needing money sued Verve Records for using his photograph on the album, which is the 1st state, also known as the "Torso" cover, which was released in March, 1967. However, Verve refused to pay and withdrew as many copies of the album as it could and affixed a large black banner sticker over the photo of Emerson, which is called the 2nd state cover. The 3rd version of the original cover had the portrait of Emerson airbrushed on the back before the album could be reissued in June 1967. This delay negatively affected the album's sales and only about 30,000 copies were sold between 1967 and 1972. How many of these 30,000 remain sealed? I think just a handful and this copy is one of them. Original blue / silver Verve Records labels with the sharp T logo. The Mono catalog number V-5008 is located on the back cover and spine below "The Velvet Underground & Nico", "Produced by Andy Warhol" and "Verve" text. The album is in amazing Mint condition, only having some light bumping to the upper left-hand corner. The shrink wrap containing the original breathe holes on the front and back cover doesn't have any splits, tears or missing pieces, only just some light age scuffing and shelf wear.
