Description
1967 US very early Issue in Mono of rare Velvet Underground album Produced by Andy Warhol. This a very early edition because of the image on back cover picture of Eric Emerson who filed a lawsuit against the record label for non payment of rights regarding use of his image, subsequently between march and april all copies not already sold were withdrawn and redistributed after a few months with a big stick covering the photograph, later issues had the image airbrushed out. This cover is commonly known as the torso cover even though the image is only of the head and shoulders and is upside down. Unfortunately this item has had the banana peel sticker removed and there is a split on the top of rear gatefold sleeve, there is some storage wear on the front cover, but the writing on the spine is clear. There is a name written in biro at right hand side above large photograph. Overall I would grade the cover as very good. The inner plain white sleeve is in excellent condition as is the vinyl with only a few light marks. I have test played the album and it plays very well with a few little crackles. The album is on Verve Records(a division of MGM) and has original bright blue label with large silver T, V-5008 is the catalogue number. In the run out of side 1 is V-5008-S-1 MG-558 REV. In the run out of side 2 is V-5008-S-2 MG-559. This an extreme rare item and will only be up for auction for 1 day.
