Description

 For sale is a copy of the debut Velvet Underground album, first released in 1967. The cover definitely dates from that year, and printed in the US, only then did it come with the banana in sticker form and the flesh-coloured banana underneath, also on the back main photograph you can see the upside down image of Eric Emmerson, one of the Warhol crowd, projected at the Exploding Plastic Inevitable event in the main picture on the back. In subsequent issues of this album he was airbrushed out for some reason.

The vinyl however, DOES NOT date from 1967. (The cover is V-5008, the vinyl is V6-5008). When I found this record in the 1980's the vinyl that came with it was in horrendous condition and I replaced it with vinyl that most likely came from a 1970's issue which also had the gatefold cover. At the time I wasn't thinking of resale value I'm afraid.

I had the vinyl checked out yesterday at a local used record shop and they classed its quality as 'Good'.

I was a hardcore VU fan when I bought this, I'm not anymore, and I think it only proper that another fan should have it.
