Description

Special Rush Copy – Urgent – Top Pop! Rare early 1960s record cover that housed ‘A’ Label Demo singles from Parlophone EMI label Records, e.g. Beatles Demos. Black Lettering.

This is a nice example of the scarce paper record cover that was sent out in the early 1960s containing Demonstration singles from EMI labels such as Parlophone. It is mainly a bright sky-blue colour, with a couple of white areas and nearly all of the printing is in black. (The same sleeves were sometimes printed with red lettering). It reads “Special Rush Copy – Urgent – Another Top Pop! on (whatever label the cover contained) – Listen NOW Please”. (It probably doesn’t mention the specific label by name so that the covers could be used for a variety of EMI’s labels over a period of time). The records (and covers) would have been sent to radio stations and reviewers etc. These were the sleeves that the earliest Beatles Demo records came in and of course if you happen to have one of these records then the cover will complement it perfectly.

The cover is clean with no scribbles,stickers and it grades as close to EX.
