Description
TROMBONE BY THREE, Prestige 16-4, deep groove pressing, RVG in dead wax. 447 W. 50th St on jacket, 446 W. 50th St on label. Cover art by Andy Warhol.
This very rare LP is one of six 16 rpm releases in this short-lived series. The contents are the equivalent of two LP's, the music recorded at five sessions 1949-1954. The musicians include JJ Johnson, Kai Winding, Bennie Green (trombones), Kenny Dorham (trumpet), Sonny Rollins, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Big Nick Nicholas, Brew Moore (tenor sax), Rudy Williams, Gerry Mulligan (baritone sax), Dick Katz, John Malachi, John Lewis, Teddy Brannon, George Wallington (piano), Peck Morrison, Tommy Potter, Leonard Gaskin, Curly Russell (bass), Al Harewood, Osie Johnson, Max Roach, Art Blakey, Roy Haynes (drums).
The tunes are Riviera, Dinner For One, Hip Bones, Windbag, We'll Be Together Again, Bags' Groove, There's a Small Hotel, Stardust, Serenade To Love, Embraceable You, Don't Argue, How Long Has This Been Going On, Elysses, Hilo, Fox Hunt, Opus V, Green Junction, Flowing River, A Night On Bop Mountain, Waterworks, Broadway, Sid's Bounce, Whirl-A-Licks, Pennies From Heaven.
Condition of record is E++, no scuffs, no scratches, no spindle marks. We can only visually grade the record - we do not have a 16rpm turntable! Jacket shows slight overall wear, no seam splits. Name & date written on back.
CONDITION TERMS
We play grade all of our records on quality equipment. We offer a money back guarantee that condition is as described. Plus (+) or Minus (-) indicates variations.
M = Mint. Brand new, unplayed. We never use the term "mint" to describe a used record, no matter how clean the record is.
E = Excellent. Some evidence of having been played, with no audible defect.
VG = Very Good. Noticeable wear, visual and audible. Records with slight surface noise and/or scuffs fall into this category.
G = Good. Not really all that good. Records in this category have more significant damage or wear.
F = More severe damage, distracting surface noise. Only used in incidence of extreme rarity.
P = Poor condition, proves existence of record only.
