Description

PSALTERS
***RARE***
Totally unknown UK Private press folk LP
The tracks are original compositions by the group.  The tracks are mostly acoustic folk, many with a Christian message, but tend towards a melancholy sound, rather than your typical 'happy clappy' late 60s / early 70s Church group sound.  Some of the tracks veer into folk-rock territory, with some quasi-progressive song structures and flourishings and acid folk style touches, particularly the bursts of electric guitar on some of the tracks.  The vocals are male and mostly a haunting, foreboding baritone.  This is superb stuff, and the lyrics are great, and pretty dark in places - particularly 'The Summer Is Ended'.  The recording has a certain low fi quality which adds to the appeal.
This LP appears to be totally unknown to the collecting scene - I can't stress enough how rare it is.  It is an authentic UK private press LP, there is no date, but it is almost certainly from the early 70s.  There could have been only a few dozen copies made, and at most a couple of hundred or so, and was likely sold only locally.  No information exists, in the public domain, thus far, about this record, and I can't find any information about the band members.  All that I know is that they were from the city of York in the UK.  The winner of this auction will own an incredibly rare vinyl artifact.
There is no label or catalogue number.  Stamped in the dead wax is the text; 'SPOT LP'
There are lyrics printed on the rear of the sleeve, and details of the group members and instruments on the labels - please see supersize pictures.
The sleeve is VG+ has a sticker mark and some writing on the back - see pictures
The disc is in VG++ condition, has a few marks, but plays well with no problems, just some mild crackle / surface noise here and there.
