Description
Here's a highly prized album for sure, at least it has been highly prized in my collection for years. It is Velvet Underground & Nico LP on Verve V-5008 original US Mono, with the banana sticker still on the front. It has the sticker on the back cover too. This is a major piece of psych history here and certainly on the most sought after items for any collection.
The front cover has ring wear from edge all the way around. The spine is in really nice shape and there is no splitting. The back cover also has ring wear and a small name wirtten lightly in ball point along along the left side of the sticker. I don't have to tell you that the sticker was put on the back cover to cover the face of someone who didn't want to be on the album cover. The cover I'd grade a strict VG, some would call it VG+
The banana is still attatched to the front cover. There are no signs that it was removed and stuck back on, except for at the very top of the banana where it looks like the sticker was torn off and taped back on. The repair job looks old.
The record is in nice shape. There are a number of minor hairline marks on the vinyl, a few spots of dirt that look like they'd be pretty easy to clean up. Nothing deep. The record plays really well on my system, no skips or anything. Visually I'd grade it a strict VG very good, very close to a VG+
Shipping in the US is $7 for Prioirty Mail. If you want insurance, add $3. For Canada and Mexico, shipping is $10. Everywhere else shipping is $15. We will pack this well. Insurance is also $3 for other countries. We take PayPal as payment. Payment is expected within 3 days of end of auction.
