Description
VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO-SELF TITLED/ANDY WARHOL BANANA COVER (Verve Records)
Condition of Cover: VG. Banana was peeled at some time, put back on, tear near bottom of the stem, complete tear separating stem and banana "body," chunk to right of banana a little rumpled, tear down right 1/3 quadrant of banana visible, but not distracting to overall banana. Banana is nearly complete, about 95% present has some wear though as stated above plus some minor general wear, see pics for a better idea. Cover has some SW, some EW, some SS along top and bottom neatly repaired with clear tape (hard to see where they are) and SS to front gatefold flap right edge neatly repaired with clear tape, also nearly impossible to see. Cover has some paper nicks to left edge as well. This is following the lawsuit and has the later "airbrushed" back of the cover photo. Inner gatefold is nice with some SW and minor paper nick along gatefold seam.
Condition of Record: Visual VG, played VG+ for me except some background noise on the intro to "Heroin" which goes away after a short while.
Additional Information: V6-5008, Original stereo post lawsuit backing airbrushed photo.NO RESERVE!
Comments: Amazing classic record, hard to find peelable banana cover. Super group of Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Maureen Tucker, and Nico! See pics to check out the cover. Cover designed by the late great Andy Warhol. Says "Peel Slowly and See" with arrow pointing at stem. Please check out my other rare LP auctions!
