Description
Velvet Underground with Nico, produced by Andy Warhol, 1967 ULTRA RARE merson Lawsuit Threat Sticker
Here’s an odd little piece of rock history. Basically, Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground were forced to censor themselves to avoid a lawsuit on their first release.
Conditon:
This particular edition is quite rare, and especially so in such good condition. The sticker hiding the image of Eric Emerson is evident on back. The banana peel image on front is completely intact, although at some point the top part of the peel (the stem) looks like it had come off, then someone had reaffixed it somehow. The inside of the gatefold is very clean with no marks. The back cover shows some ring wear and some general wear from aging. The vinyl is in amazing condition, very clean with brilliant luster. I could only detect a few very light scratches, but none that can be felt or have an effect on playback. This played through for me with only very light surface noise.
This is the East Coast mono pressing.
Matrix / Runout (Side A, stamped): Block-shaped "S"
This will be an exceptional acquisition for any serious fan of Velvet Underground.
