Description
Veno - Nigeria go survive
Tabansi TTL 385 (1985)
Yeah this is it, the legendary boogie album by Veno with the brilliant title track and a few other dancefloor bombs. Featuring Jake Sollo, and the typical sounds of moog bass and Linn drum. The album usually fetches hundreds of euros but is here at a start bid of 99 cents.
The problem with this copy which lived in a Lagos fleemarket for years is that the vinyl is pretty battered - looks like a cat was dragged across both sides, lots of scratches. This results in constant crackle and one or two skips in most songs. In addition, the hole is off-center which is heard in the few tracks closest to its center. This can sometimes be fixed manually by enlarging the hole and fixing it with tape.
Now since this album is so rare and sought after, I decided to still put it up along with the other cheapies this week. If you need a spare sleeve, or if you don't mind crackle and skips, this may be for you. For the perfectionist collectors I suggest you wait for a nicer copy though.

Disclaimer: the condition of this record, and the other records in this batch of Nigerian classics, is as can be expected from lp's that spent the past three decades in the humid, dusty climate of Lagos. This often means scratches and dirt on the vinyl, and creases and folds in the sleeves. If you are looking for mint collectors copies, then you'd best not to bid on these records. However if you want an affordable copy of an album that is otherwise hard to find or too expensive, this might be for you!
To be sure that you're fine with the condition of the album, make sure you download the snippets.
