Description

You are looking at a very rare collection of jazz 78 RPM records by Coleman Hawkins, recorded in early 1944 for the Keynote label for their Jazzmaster Series. I can find only one other instance of one being sold online, sold from England. This intact set of 3 double sided EP single records is what at that time was actually called an album, since the packaging resembles a picture album. This is labeled on the front cover as album #124. You will also notice that the inside front cover has no damage and is still very readable. All of the sides were recorded in January and February 1944 in New York City.  Also notice that sides 609A and B were recorded by the Coleman Hawkins Quintet, while the other 4 sides were by the Coleman Hawkins Quartet. Coleman Hawkins was one of the first tenor sax jazz musicians, starting professionally in the 1920's.  Happy bidding, and good luck!!
