Great history behind these records. Tommy Tong owned a hardware store and below that was Golden Star radio station. where he, his wife, family members and friends broadcasted. Besides his broadcasting studio Tong ran a few other businesses. Like exporting Chinese gramophone records to Hong Kong. tong owned two recording studios in Hong Kong where Chinese Operas and popular music were taped. The tapes were then forwarded to San Francisco where Tong would edit them. The taped recordings were sent off to Hollywood firm which makes them into long playing records.
While the records were being pressed in Hollywood, Tong's own printing shop would produce the jackets, labels, text books for the recordings. Thus tens of thousands of Chinese records, taped in Hong Kong but produced in California were sold annually in the Far East. The fans scooped them up because the American made records are said to be superior in quality then there local products.
I also have the Mother boards that made these records which I will be listing later. All the records and mother boards were packed carefully in wood crates and have been stored for some time.
