Description
With this sold out vinyl lot, experience the music of:
-People Under the Stairs (known for their focus on traditional hip-hop sampling, beat creation, and rhyming, the West Coast rap duo got their start in the late '90s in Los Angeles before dropping this classic, O.S.T., in 2002),
-Nils Frahm (musician whose work combines acoustic and electronic instruments with a primary focus on pianos and synthesizers, who dropped his best and most popular album, Spaces, in 2013 as a set of live recordings that emphasize the spontaneous nature of his performances - the mesmerizing "Says" is perhaps the greatest moment in his entire discography)
-Prince Paul (who began his legendary career as a New York DJ, rapper and producer who has lending his skills to albums by Boogie Down Productions, Gravediggaz, MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, and 3rd Bass, among others. Paul's big break came when he produced one of the greatest hip-hop albums in history, De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising album. Shattering the acknowledged rules of hip-hop production, he sampled not only funk, but all types of music to create fresh and original backing tracks. He released his magnum opus, Prince of Thieves, in 1999. There have been plenty of rap albums with a cinematic feel, but very few actually tie things together with a coherent narrative throughout. Leave it to Prince Paul, long one of hip-hop's most imaginative producers, to assemble the first successful rap opera. Not only does it maintain a coherent story line via skits that actually aren't filler, it manages to stay musically compelling and focused throughout. It’s truly the crown jewel of a brilliant career)
