Weill Threepenny Opera Klemperer Aust Columbia SAXO 2460
Otto Klemperer conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra in a performance of Kurt Weill’s “Suite” from “The Threepenny Opera”, music from Johan Strauss 11, and also Klemperer’s own “Merry Waltz”. An Australian stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAXO 2460), the labels are blue/green with silver border and “radio waves” and black Columbia and stereo flash. The label on side one has a “sample record” sticker. The record is of immaculate appearance, and plays and sounds superb with some surface noise - this seems to mostly disappear after the first few playings. The English has rubbed with a bend and small tears and wear to the top left-hand corner.
This review record is a part of a collection that originally was either played a few times for review purposes, (or not at all) and stored carefully and unplayed over the following 40 years. View my other auctions for more superb early classical records.
