A1  B2  Additional stampers 1  /  1 with double matrix confirming a very first press of this monumental classic.

 

Single matt album sleeve-MacNeill Press Ltd. Clipped spine. First issue. Some edge / corner wear . Very good condition.

 

Vinyl

Thick press with a distinctive sheen. Not many surface markings at all. Excellent visual.

 

Labels

Matt black Track label format. Deeper coloration than the later grey labels. Just a light spindle trace. No mottling, lifting and in excellent condition.

 

Audio

Little static but plays mostly excellent. Delightful audio with very little surface disturbance. Three/four light ticks detected plus one or two pops. Does little to disturb the musical presentation of one of Who’s best releases. Sensational audio with little to fault.

 

Inner sleeve

Very scarce Headhunters inner sleeve in good/very good condition.Advertises all the other Atlantic artists of that era and is a highly sought after collectors’ item. Normally very elusive , demanding a high priced bid to win this piece of vinyl history.Initials hand written on one side. Two complete seam splits and one tiny tear. Black,white and grey inks still project extremely well with little fading detected.

 

Special offer with this album is a newspaper cutting reviewing all the Who albums and discuss the impact of the group on the rock world.Highlights this particular album in the review, stating that it is one of the classic rock albums of the time, easily eclipsing Tommy and Quadrophenia. Very rare and interesting addition for the winning bidder.

 

An excellent example of a sensational rock classic, complete with its very rare Headhunters liner.
