Description
This is a very rare, hard-to-get commemorative set of all of Churchill's greatest speeches, from 1918 - 1945. Includes, of course, such classics as the Battle of Britten speech ('never have so many owed so much to so few;" The "Iron Curtain" speech, and so many others.
Book Description: London: Decca, 1964. Very Good. 320x320mm. 12 LP records all with inner liner and sleeve in fine playing condition. The whole contained in an inner and outer sleeved box with a curved spine simulating a book and including a 60 pp booklet with black and white and colour photographs. Fascinating listening and interesting to note the difference between the highly polished speeches and the less formal, with asides. You can feel yourself there, with the man, whether its at the Mansion House or in the crowd on VE Day.
The entire set is in fine condition, with most the recordings still unplayed. This is a numbered first edition, with the present volume being No. 156 of the specially numbered set.
A fine addition to the library of anyone interested in Chirchill, or of special use to those teaching public speaking and speech writing--to hear the words students read in the textbook spoken in the unforgettable voice of Churchill himself
