Description

A genuine 1st press of WTB on the UK Parlophone label. Matrix 1N/1N. Note the labels still mention the publishing credit 'Jobete' - this was discontinued quickly at 1st release and is indicative of earliest 1st press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original G&L mono cover. Note how this is the very 1st iteration of the cover design. The Beatle faces are half in shadow - this was quickly 'lightened up' on ALL later copies. The record comes housed in an original mid-sixties poly-lined inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In very nice condition and hasn't been abused. Expect a good few marks each side, but nothing heavy or likely to impair the audio. Be sure that you are someone who can handle a few marks - if you're not this might put you off. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Ok, so the surface exhibits a few marks - but remember that these copies were pressed - heavy. And, thankfully, nothing much is getting to that precious audio. And, as a result, this baby still delivers some excellent audio. It's a pretty clean player for the most part. I only detected a bit of light background in a couple tracks across both sides [e.g. Till There Was You]. Now, that's a pretty good batting average! Not much to dislike, here. It get's the thumbs up from me.
Cover (Vg-) Ok, so the cover is looking a bit tired - but remember... this is the very earliest genuine print error 1st issue. The main problems on the front are the bottom left corner - and then there's a good bit of wear at the opening. The opening is torn a bit and fraying badly. I have taped it up to prevent further deterioration. The rear is OK - no better and no worse. A fair bit of ageing - but acceptable. There's a good bit of edge wear in places and the text on the spine is only 80% legible. Overall the cover still retains verygood rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing. No splits.
