THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
1963 UK 1st *MONO* PRESSING LP
**TOP EARLY COPY**
My listings this week include items from another major collection of UK Beatles records which I have been commissioned to sell.
For some of the highlights, please take a look at my 'About Me' page.
This fine 1963 1st MONO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but have 'Parlophone Co..' rims.
The side 2 label bears the incorrect 'Jobete Mus. NCB' credit for the song 'Money'
Also present is the misspelt 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' title.
The 'KT' tax/price code is visible around the centre-hole of the side 2 label.
Housed in the rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me' spelling.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper numbers: 9/MM & 9/GMP
Disc weight: 167g
A clean & vibrant set with a number of light spindle marks to each centre hole but no further signs of wear.
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
Both surfaces are immaculate and unmarked in strong daylight with all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines fully intact and no dull or cloudy areas.
Close & careful inspection directly under my halogen desk-lamp reveals nothing more than a sparkling rainbow gloss & a few barely visible inner-sleeve removal marks.
There are certainly no scuffs, scratches or any other traces of visual wear on this spotless copy.
A very heavy disc which lies 100% flat on the turntable with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
This immensely powerful, faultless sounding copy has received moderate careful play on top quality equipment and represents a first class example of the explosive withdrawn 1st cut.
My careful playcheck at volume detected no significant or major deterioration to the sound quality. Every track is completely free of any clicks, pops or other such audible distractions.
Apart from a touch of light/normal background between a few tracks, there really is little to fault on this great sounding copy which would be difficult to upgrade.
Cover: EXCELLENT
This striking & truly excellent example retains a bright & unyellowed front panel with just a touch of light storagewear rubbing to its high-gloss laminate but no 'thumbnail' wrinkles whatsoever.
There is slight bruising to the upper two corners but the lower ones are undamaged. Both opening edges are all perfectly clean & sharp and without any significant signs of wear.
The rear panel is very clean & white with the only blemish being a tiny, pin-head sized spot above the word '..Beethoven', but no other marks, writing or missing paper.
All the delicate flipbacks are clean & fully intact & both seams and the spine are are smooth, unstressed & undamaged.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT
Clean & flat with just some natural age-toing and light storagewear wrinkles but no splits, tears or writing.
