Description
UK FIRST PRESSING HEAVY VINYL BLACK LABEL, SILVER WRITING, BLUE COLUMBIA LOGO 'Columbia Gramphone Co. Ltd' on outer label 'Sold in the UK Subject to Resale Price Conditions' LP IN LAMINATED FLIP-BACK SLEEVE WITH PLAIN WHITE INNER (NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE ORIGINAL ISSUE INNER BUT IT LOOKS OF THE SAME ERA AS THE ALBUM). 1 / T and 1 / 0 mother/stamper combination denotes a very early pressing of this album, one of the first 2,000 or so copies ever pressed.
MATRIX NUMBERS IN RUN-OFF GROOVES: SIDE A: XAX 2725-1 N / SIDE B: XAX 2726-1N
MOTHER No. SIDE A: 1 / SIDE B: 1
STAMPER No. SIDE A: T / SIDE B: 0
SLEEVE: VERY GOOD, COMPLETELY INTACT BUT DOES HAVE THE FOLLOWING DEFECTS: SHELF AND EDGE WEAR, SPINE CREASES AND NICKS, EDGE SCUFFS, REAR WHITE AREA HAS AGED LOOK, ORIGINAL SHOP STORE STICKER WITH 32/- PRICE.
DISC: PLAYS EXCELLENT MINUS WITH SOME POPS AND CRACKLES IN QUIET PASSAGES (ALTHOUGH THEY'RE AREN'T MANY OF THOSE!), VISUALLY THE DISC GRADES VERY GOOD WITH THE USUAL SIGNS OF PLAY, LIGHT SCUFFS AND HAIRLINES, NO ACTUAL SCRATCHES AND SOME SPINDLE WEAR. CLEARLY A PLAYED COPY, BUT ONE WHICH PLAYS AND SOUNDS FAR BETTER THAN IT LOOKS, NO SKIPS OR JUMPS, SCORCHING EARLY MONO SOUND, CLAPTON IN HIS PURIST BLUES MODE WITH THAT DEFINITIVE TONE HE HAD WITH THE YARDBIRDS AND LATER JOHN MAYALL. OVERALL A VERY DECENT, ENJOYABLE PLAYING COPY OF AN INCREASINGLY RARE TITLE, BUT NOT A PERFECT COPY BY ANY MEANS.
